Lunar Orbiter Photographic Support Data
---------------------------------------

This folder contains support data for the Lunar Orbiter images
displayed in the /Lunar Orbiter Atlas of the Moon/ on the Lunar
and Planetary Institute (Houston) website.

Those images come in turn from the book by Bowker and Hughes,
specifically from the table reproduced at:

http://www.lpi.usra.edu/resources/lunar_orbiter/book/table2.shtml

In its original form, that table consists of a small number
of rows and a very large number of columns (one for each plate in
the book).

In the present folder that table has been transposed into a form
easier to read on a computer screen: many rows (one per plate)
with a small number of columns. Even so, it contains much
information not relevant to LTVT.

The files in this folder are:

1. "Bowker-Hughes - Full Index in Frame Order.xls" : the complete
table in Microsoft Excel format with each image listed on a
separate line.

2. "Bowker-Hughes - Full Index in Frame Order.csv" : the same
as #1 but in a simple text, US comma-separated-values format.

3. "Bowker-Hughes in LTVT Order.xls" : a stripped down version
listing only that information necessary for calibrating the
images in LTVT. This is in Microsoft Excel format and the
original latitude/longitude format has been reversed to
longitude/latitude for easy of entry into the LTVT data entry
boxes.

4. "Bowker-Hughes in LTVT Order.xls" : identical to #3, but in
a simple text, US comma-separated-values format.

---

Please note that formats for representing numbers vary from
country to country. The Excel versions will probably open
automatically in the user's customary format.

The .csv files should be readable by any plain text editor
such as Notepad or WordPad. The values are separated by commas
and periods are used for decimal points. To open such .csv
files as numeric tables in certain countries and with certain
software it may be necessary to use the Windows control panel
to temporarily change the PC's Regional and Language Options
to English (United States).
